Sitar, continued
His instruments have been played all over the world including Buckingham Palace and in the films by the late Oscar winner, Satyajit Ray. Documentaries have been made about him on the National and International level. His elegant work not only earned him money and accolades but an honorable place in the history of music.
He died on December 5, 1992. The void that he left cannot be filled but his art was carried on by his late son, Himanshu Roy and by his surviving son Barun Roy.
In closing, I will include a quote from Shakespeare that Hiren Roy & Sons agent, Nilanjana Banerjee, who wrote this text felt best described Hiren Roy and his craft: "So long as men can breathe or eyes can see so long lives this, and this gives life to thee." Similarly, the Sitars produced by Hiren Roy & Sons will occupy a dominate place in Indian Classical music and in the hearts of music lovers for its charismatic charm will remain forever.
